Story of “Two Suez”

First Day of third grade 1988

During what seemed to have become an elementary first-day-ritual, I passed the new girl, sitting in the desk beside me, my name and phone number just to be nice.

Now, two decades later, I cannot recall a moment in between that we have not been side by side.

In elementary school, we played together her home was my home and my home was hers.  In junior high, we danced together, side by side, splitting the center line we have always been “twin towers”.  In High School, we continued to dance as Rebel Raiders, work out as Powerlifters and cruise around town.  She had the first car together, we were “Fric & Frac”.

We have grown from sharing friends, clothes, and crushes to sharing each of our own weddings, the birth of our children, and now a dream.  Somewhere in between we became “Sue & Sue”.  Upon meeting us, you may quickly realize why.  Though we are two separate, very independent individuals, together, we seem to become one in the same.  It is an unspoken bond in both mind and spirit that comes from our years of kinship.  Our thoughts run in to one another and our language is our own.  I suppose this is the reason we work so well together. It is in this same manner that our styles of photography are so similar.

So how did Two Suez come to be?  on a whim by accident…In February 2003, a personal tragedy kept me from photographing a friends wedding (something I myself had stumbled into).  Katie had just received a camera for Christmas and was also friends with the Bride.  She hesitated; I begged.  Because she knew everyone, I told her to relax and just take candid shots of the moments.  The end result?  Still life.  The story the photographs told was timeless.  She had a natural eye and she was hooked.

Her enthusiasm spilled over and became my own.  We brainstormed in between play shoots.  We wanted our photographs to stand alone to make people feel beautiful, to tell their stories, both special events and well, “life in between”.  Our main goal was to make our work available and affordable.  And while we have increased our pricing over time, we continue to focus on our goal while providing the best quality available to us.

The name?  Well, my husband suggested Two Suez immediately.   It was simple.  It was us.  And while I cannot imagine anything else more suitable, both she & I laughed it off and continued to ponder the perfect name.  It was not until we saw it on paper that we realized it was perfect!

As with anything, time and practice make you stronger.  While much of our first images were raw and imperfect, we learned from our mistakes.  We continue to grow and evolve, artistically and technically.  We dream of studios and full time shooting, but we focus on you always.  We want to present to you, your own story, through the lens, with photographs that are warm and speak volumes alone.   Your independence, your new love, motherhood, family ties, and the kiss that seals the deal.

It is your life, savor every minute.

Let us capture your Life in Between or Special event!
